Important Notice – Citywide Aquatics Pool Closure & Practice Relocation
Dear LA City United Water Polo Families,
We want to inform you of an important update impacting our program. The City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks – Citywide Aquatics Division is currently facing a $1.6 million budget deficit. As part of the citywide response to this deficit, all year-round pools will close for six weeks in the coming months.
This is not an easy decision for the department. Many Angelinos, from lap swimmers to our sister sports, will be impacted by the closures.
As part of these closures, Hollywood Pool will be closed beginning October 1, 2025, Roosevelt Pool December 10, 2025 and VNSO Pool on February 4, 2026 all pools are expected to reopen after the six-week period.
To ensure our athletes have access to continue training, we have secured alternative practice locations during these times:
| Hollywood Pool ( 10/1/25-11/12/25) | Roosevelt Pool ( 12/10/25-1/17/25) | VNSO Pool ( 2/4/25-3/18/25) |
| LACES Pool Tuesday – Friday, 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM | Lincoln TBA | Granada Pool TBA |
| Roosevelt Aquatic Center Monday – Thursday, 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM | Hollywood Pool Tuesday – Friday, 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM | Roosevelt Aquatic Center Monday – Thursday, 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM |
| Van Nuys Sherman Oaks Aquatic Center Monday – Friday, 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM | Van Nuys Sherman Oaks Aquatic Center Monday – Friday, 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM | Hollywood Pool Tuesday – Friday, 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM |
We understand these adjustments have created many challenges for some families, and we appreciate your flexibility and commitment as we work through these temporary changes. Our priority remains to keep our athletes active, engaged, and prepared for competition despite the disruption. If these alternatives don't work for your family please talk to your onsite coach for some alternative options such as swimming with the PLAYLA Swim Team at your local pool or dryland workouts to support your athlete during this time.
Thank you for your continued support of the LA City United Water Polo program and for standing with us as we navigate this difficult financial period. We will continue to provide updates as soon as more information becomes available. If the above training opportunities can not work for your player please contact your coach so we can provide some Thailand at home workouts and tools to maintain your physical fitness.
Sincerely,
Steve A Steward Jr
